Originally created in 1709, the flag of Afghanistan has been changed 21 different times. The most recently adopted flag has three stripes running vertically in black, red, and green. Afghanistan’s national emblem sits in the center in white, depicting a mosque. The Afghan flag is one of only three state flags that depict a building on it.
