The current flag of Bangladesh was made official in 1972 once independence from Pakistan was achieved. The green background stands for the fertile landscape of the country. The red circle is symbolic for the beginning of Bangladesh’s independence. Notice that the circle is not actually in the center, but slightly left of it.
