The official flag of Estonia was first adopted in 1918 until Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union illegally occupied the country. It was readopted in 1990. The blue, black, and white horizontal bands make it a tricolor flag. The colors can be interpreted as the blue sky, the black soil and fate of Estonians, and white for purity and commitment.
