Gelati is part of Georgia in the Imereti section of Eurasia. The city was founded back in the year 1106, by King David IV of Georgia. The city was considered to be a masterpiece at the time, and marked all the progress achieved in the Georgian Golden Age. Today, the monastery still contains historical manuscripts that have been preserved from as far back as the twelfth century.
