Description

The Jindo-Modo Land Bridge connects the islands of Modo and Jindo. According to Korean legend, it was created after an elderly woman prayed for an escape route from Jindo to Modo because she was in danger of being eaten by tigers. However, it is actually a natural causeway that appears at certain times of year at periods of low tide, allowing tourists to cross from one island to the other. Traditionally, tourists from both islands meet in the middle of the Jindo-Modo Land Bridge at such times and have a celebration.
