Lake Baikal is known as a rift lake. This is a type of lake that is very deep and surrounded on the sides by deep cliffs. It is located in Southern Siberia, and is considered the largest freshwater lake in the world. Not only that, but it is also one of the cleanest lakes in history. Historians believe that the lake is well over twenty-five million years old. On top of all that, it also makes up twenty percent of the world’s unfrozen fresh water.
