Description
Lake Superior gets its name not because it is superior to other lakes, but actually from a French term meaning “upper lake” due to its positioning in relation to Lake Huron to the South. However, it does happen to be the largest of the five Great Lakes in the United States. That goes for both water volume and surface area. Of the more than 80 species of fish found there, many have been deliberately or accidentally introduced. True native species include muskellunge and walleye.
