Description

The Metéora is part of a group of five other Greek Orthodox monasteries. All of them were built upon natural sandstone which was found around the Pindus Mountains and the Pineios River, both of which are found in central Greece. The monasteries look like they are rising out of the earth and ascending into the heavens. When translated, Metéora means in the heavens above. Try saying something from this place: “Hello! What are you doing?” “Geia sas! Ti káneis apópse?”
