New Lanark was built very close to nearby waterfalls during the early 1700s. Back then, this was very important for crafters, who used the water’s power to keep their cotton mills going.
Bell Rock Lighthouse
Bell Rock is a lighthouse that was built between 1807 and 1810, making it the oldest surviving sea-washed lighthouse. The name comes from the warning bell that was built into the lighthouse.
