Description

In the 430s BC, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, was constructed. The statue dwarfed the statue of Athena at the Parthenon. It attracted viewers from far and wide. It is also the depiction upon which all modern representations of Zeus are based. It was also a focal point of the early Olympic Games held in Greece. The statue stood for approximately 1,000 years.
