Description
The Alcázar of Segovia is among the most famous castles of Spain and it stands above the confluence of two rivers near Guadarrama Mountains. It was built on a rocky outcrop shaped like the bow of a ship to offer a natural defensive advantage. Besides serving as a fortress in the past, the structure has been used as a state prison, royal palace, military academy, and is currently a museum.
