Description
The Ulugh Beg Observatory in Samarkand, Uzbekistan is one of the oldest, ancient observatories in the world. Scientists believe that it is over five hundred years old. When it was first constructed, it was a round building with three large stargazing implements. Ancient scientists were able to determine the time of noon, the angle of the Earth’s axis, the plane of its orbit, and the exact length of a year. Their calculations were so accurate that they are only off by 25 seconds to today’s readings. Try saying something from this place: “Look at the stars” is “Pogledaj zvezde”
